November Meetings

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to send a reminder that we do not meet again until November 5th.  We should be welcoming two new members to the troop at this meeting, bringing our troop count up to 14.  I am so very pleased with the great group of girls we have.

So far we have earned 3 badges, the Girl Scout Way, Field Sports/Girl Sports, and Being My Best/Manners.  I interviewed the girls last week and asked them each to tell me one thing they wanted to learn or do from girl scouts.  They had some great ideas and requests.  That being said I will no longer be following that website I had mentioned earlier, in order to earn some badges the girls would like to earn.  I have ordered a few new books for he troop.  Our juniors are going to start the Get Moving journey book, and our brownies will begin WOW Wonders of Water.  There are only 3 books and we will try and do this one and start the It’s Your World series this school year.  You can pick up a copy of this book in the councils shop for $7, on Amazon for a penny plus shipping or we can share.  I do not think we all need a copy, unless you want your daughter to have one and follow along on her own, do not order one.

I will be splitting our group up into their own age groups while doing these books, mainly because the requirements and skill levels are very different.  If you can hang out with us one meeting every few months and help with the younger girls, that would be great.  Just let me know what meeting you want to attend and I’ll make sure I have one extra body per meeting!

The holidays are approaching rapidly and we want to do a service project.  The girls want to make jewelry this month, so they can gift it, and they want to do something for the needy.  I would like them to make bags for the homeless like these.  We will be writing a list, make our scarves (similar to these), and think of what we can put in our bags first.  The girls will bring home that list and will ask friends, family, and neighbors for donations to put in our bags.  We will then build our bags at the next meeting and the girls will bring them home with directions on how to safely distribute a homeless bag WITH their parents.

Have a great week–
